Class Rules

In order for our classroom to be a positive learning environment for all children and to promote responsibility and cooperation, we follow the general class rules.

1. Raise your hand when you want to be called on

2. Follow direction the first time they are given

3. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself

4. Walk quietly in the hallway

5. Listen carefully and stay in your seat.

Rewards

We have several rewards. We have individual rewards and whole class rewards. we have a marble jar that we fill throughout the year. once we've reached the red line we discuss what type of reward we'd like. I write them on the board and we vote to choose. We also have a gumball machine. We only need 5 gumballs for this big reward but this one is the most difficult to achieve. read all about this one in the consequences section. Last, but not least, students can earn a special treat, special note sent home or a phone call from the teacher to let their parents know how well they're doing.

Consequences

There's a pocket chart in our room and everyone starts off with a green card. if everyone remains on a green card all day our class will earn a gumball. If a rule is broken, however, we "flip" to the next card which is yellow. the yellow card is a warning and we need to stop and think of what we're doing and perhaps review the rules. If the rules continue to be broken we flip as follows:

Orange Card - 10 minute time out

Blue Card - 20 minute time out

Pink Card - Time out the entire recess period. Either a note will be sent home or a phone call will be made.
